JEWELRY CARE
AND CLEANING

LET’S TAKE CARE OF YOUR NEW JEWELRY!

Jewelry is meant to be worn every day and for any occasion. This is why we go out of our way to ensure our jewelry will require very little care. It’s meant to be worn and enjoyed! With that in mind, here are some helpful tips to keep your jewelry looking its very best!

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

We do recommend taking off your jewelry when swimming, gardening, doing contact sports, seriously messy cooking, and moving heavy objects. That said, your child’s lifestyle and preferences should be your deciding factor.

Items to avoid: Household chemicals, chlorinated water, rubber, substances containing sulfur (latex, wool, eggs, mustard, etc.), direct sunlight, hairspray, lotions, perfumes.

  • CARING FOR BRASS PLATED JEWELRY

Plated jewelry has the unfortunate distinction that once the color “wears off”, there is not much that can be done to bring it back to its original lustre. Please read our “General Recommendations“ above to help extend the life of your plated jewelry. A regular cleaning is a great way to keep your plated jewelry lasting as long as possible:

    • Fill up a small cup with hot water
    • Add mild, phosphate-free dishwashing soap to the cup and swirl
    • Place jewelry inside the cup for 5 minutes
    • Gently scrub the jewelry with soft-bristle toothbrush

  • CARING FOR CULTURED PEARL JEWELRY

Pearls improve with wear, gaining luster from the natural oils in the skin. The more you wear them, the better they will be. However, pearls are very sensitive to chemicals like chlorine, hairspray, perfumes, etc. so it is imperative to enjoy them as much as possible, but always protect what you expose them to. Please read our “General Recommendations“ and “Items to Avoid” above.

      CLEANING:

Pearls should ONLY be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with water and a little bit of gentle hand soap (Ivory brand is best).
